Artex Ceilings
Yes. Skimming over the Artex with a fresh coat of plaster is usually the most straightforward option, giving a smooth, modern finish without full removal. Where removal is more appropriate, we’ll advise accordingly after assessing the ceiling.
Artex applied before the mid-1980s can contain asbestos, so it should be tested before any removal work begins. If asbestos is present, removal must be carried out by a licensed contractor. Covering with a skim coat is often the safer and more practical solution, and we’ll talk you through what’s right for your property.
Plastering vs Dry Lining
Traditional wet plastering applies plaster directly to walls and ceilings, creating a hard, durable finish. Dry lining uses plasterboard fixed to the surface – it’s faster and less messy, but doesn’t always give the same depth of finish.
